Item Description

“25 years ago, a certain Record Company began…”

So begins the history of Green Linnet Records as recounted by renowned Irish fiddler Kevin Burke in the liner notes of Green Linnet: 25 Years of Celtic Music. Although Burke may be the teller of this tale, Green Linnet’s owner and creative director, Wendy Newton is the author. Ms. Newton first heard traditional Irish music played in a pub in Ennnistymon, County Clare, while on holiday in 1975. What began as a love for the music and a need to share it with others has carried Green Linnet through an illustrious quarter of a century. In celebration of this milestone, the label is releasing a commemorative, specially priced 2 CD collection. For this recording, Green Linnet shines a spotlight on some of the most dynamic artists to grace the recording studio.

"Green Linnet has long been to Irish music what Sun Records was to rhythm and blues." - The New York Times
