International Folk Alliance Awards: The Small Glories Win Artist of the Year, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Compass Records Group celebrated its 25-year anniversary with a special showcase at Folk Alliance International in New Orleans last week. The showcase featured artists representing both the Compass and Red House rosters: The Mastersons, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, O’Connor Lee, and Michael Doucet Avec Lâcher Prise.

In the awards categories, Red House artists The Small Glories have received the International Folk Alliance award for “Artist of the Year” for their breakthrough album, ASSINIBOINE & THE RED. And we’d like to give a special, heartfelt congratulation to one of New Orleans’ own: BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award this year. The first Cajun band to ever win a GRAMMY, BeauSoleil has been one of Louisiana’s most recognizable musical exports since they formed in 1975, with 25 albums to their credit and an international reputation.
