Several of Compass Records’ artists from our Celtic roster have been nominated for Ireland’s Music Awards. Nominees in categories such as "Best Irish Traditional Group" and "Best Trad, Folk, or Celtic Duo" includes Solas, Lúnasa, Gráda, Beoga, Liz Carroll and John Doyle, and many more. Pride of New York pre-release NY album launch this weekend at Catskills Irish Arts Week

Pride of New York (Joanie Madden, Brian Conway, Billy McComiskey, Brendan Dolan) to celebrate pre-release New York album launch at Catskills Irish Arts Week this Friday/Saturday.

Formed in 2005 at the Catskills Irish Arts Week and named by festival director and Irish Voice journalist Paul Keating, the Pride of New York is excited to return in 2009 with their self-titlted debut album in hand. "Its fantastic to be returning to the Catskills and launching the album amongst so many of our friends and peers. This week has become a yearly mecca for traditional music lovers across America and we are thrilled to be among the performers," says Joanie Madden of Pride of New York and Cherish the Ladies.

The article focuses on the tradition of women in bluegrass and how each Alison, Dale Ann, and Missy came to playing their own version of bluegrass but by taking very different paths. Compass Records’ 15-year anniversary and the new albums from Alison, Dale Ann, and Missy are also highlighted.
